about

Fun facts:
The "Blood Flow" part of the title was a nod to (smog)/Bill Callahan, who was a big influence at the time when writing this song.

The "Born Free" lines -- taken from the 1960s classic; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Born_Free_%28song%29 -- were written with a laugh and a chuckle; surprisingly (or maybe not so when it comes to my music), the song took a dark turn, and now it is often forgotten that I originally started out this song in good fun!

lyrics

Born Free, Blood Flow Lyrics

Born free, as free as the wind blows, as free as the blood flows… from your head to your toes.
Born free, but then we must grow old, look how the time goes, you were once born free.

Feeling so much indignation over each and every obligation, and there ain’t any indication of when it’s gonna end.

I…I… I… I…
Can’t breathe, So I take medication
Just 4 inhalations… just so I can breathe

Born Free, but then we must grow old… look how the body goes ….from your head to your toes.

Feeling so much indignation over each and every complication, and there ain’t any indication of when it’s gonna end.

I…I… I… I…

Hold me tight, I won’t charge you for it.
Say goodnight, I won’t hold you to it
Say goodbye …it’s the same as saying hello.

Don’t want to be a Xerox, of what I was
Don’t want to look to the past because you know the future’s enough
It’s enough, for me… like you I was born free…
So quit judging me.

about

Randi Russo Los Angeles, California

Already known for her “honest, provocative lyrics” (The Big Takeover) and her upside-down guitar-playing which is “sweet when it needs to be but nasty in all the right places” (The Village Voice), Randi Russo continues to create songs with equal parts toughness & tenderness. While she often draws comparisons to PJ Harvey, Lou Reed & Patti Smith, Randi definitely has a voice of her own. ... more
